The Government of Maharashtra, on July 20, 2026, issued the draft amendments to the Maharashtra Nursing Council Rules, 1971.
In rule 72, sub-rule (1), for clause (b) the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
"(b) In addition to the above requirements, a candidate who is registered or who has passed the examination conducted by the Nursing Council of any other State, shall submit the original registration certificate and diploma certificates. On production of the said certificates, the candidate shall be issued a Maharashtra Nursing Council registration number, which may be subsequently made permanent after verification of the same from the parent State Registration Council:
Provided that, if, on verification, the registration certificate submitted by the candidate is found to be forged or false, the registration number issued by the Maharashtra Nursing Council shall be withdrawn with immediate effect."
